Theory Test

Anyone wishing to take the UK Driving test needs to pass the theory test first. The theory test is in two parts. The first part consists of 50 multiple choice questions and the pass mark is 43 out of 50. The test is done on touch screen computer at a special theory test centre. You also need to do the hazard perception test, which you do at the same time as the questions. The pass mark is 44 out of 75. You have to pass both parts of the test at the same time.

The hazard test consists of 14 clips of film, each one lasting for around 20-30 seconds. On each clip of film there will be a "developing hazard" that you identify by clicking the mouse. One clip of film has two scorable hazards, making 15 developing hazards in all.

The sooner you spot the hazard and click the mouse, the more points you score (up to a maximum of 5 points per scoring hazard.
